Hello,

I tried sending out a mass email to welcome you to the class but two of them were returned to me.  So, please be sure I have a working email address for you.

In addition to yourselves there are 13 students that will be taking the class on campus here in Tucson.  Everyone in the class will be using the same webpage:

http://www.atmo.arizona.edu/courses/spring15/atmo589/HOME.html

Be sure to have a look at the Course Information link.   Your grade in the class will be determined by your scores on Homework assignments that are sent out periodically during the semester, your scores on the Midterm and Final exams, and perhaps on a project report that you have the option of doing.

The complete set of Online Class Notes are available to you now. The on campus version of the course will be meeting for 50 minutes three times a week.  A detailed set of Lecture Notes will appear online after each class.  Because I try to add new and interesting material to the class every time I teach it, this semester's notes may differ somewhat from the Online Class Notes.  I am going to suggest that you follow the Lecture Notes from this semester's class.  This is one way of breaking up the material into manageable portions.  You'll also be able to profit from any questions or discussions that come up in the on campus version of the class.

Please feel free to contact me by email if you have any questions about the class and class logistics.  And once the semester is underway please let me know if you have any concerns or difficulties with any of the course material.

I'm looking forward to an interesting and productive semester.

Chuck Weidman
