Thu., Jan. 29 - Music from Dessa this morning:  I played all of the following songs in the half hour leading up to the 9:30 am class:  "551", "Call Off Your Ghosts", "Skeleton Key", "Mineshaft II", "Dixon's Girl", and "Sadie Hawkins".  There was only enough time for three or four before the 8 am class and I don't remember for sure which ones they were.  And you should really listen to Dessa discuss what it takes to write and sing songs of this style.

Thu., Jan. 22 - Music: Brandi Carlile "Touching the Ground", "It's Over", "Looking Out", "The Story".  I would like to have taken more time and checked out & played some of her more recent work, but I was feeling a little rushed.
Tue., Jan. 20 - A nice selection of music from Sergio Mendoza y La Orkesta recorded in Austin, TX, this past summer during the SXSW festival.  They're a local group.
Thu., Jan. 15 - Wilsen "House on a Hill"; Laura Marling "Blackberry Stone"; Lucius "Turn It Around"; The Bangles "Hazy Shade of Winter" the 1987 version is what you heard in class but the Live version recorded in 2000 is also good.   There was time for "Hello, I Love You" from The Doors before the 9:30 class.
