Here is a new grades update. It now includes the Expt.#2 and revised Expt. #1 reports,
the total number of extra credit (EC) pts you have earned, and the PackBack score (for
those that signed up for PackBack). This grades update also includes, for the 1st time,
a guess at what your overall average will be on the last day of classes if you keep on
doing as you have been doing.
The 2nd through 5th columns show your grades on the first two quizzes.
Experiment report scores are shown in the next column (check to be sure this agrees with
what was written on your paper). A 0% indicates you haven't done an experiment yet. But,
for the purposes of the overall grade estimate an average grade of 32 out of 40 has been assumed.
The total number of 1S1P pts is shown in the next column. Very few people have made it
to 45 pts at this point. That has been taken into account in estimating your writing
grade. You should have earned at least 20 pts by this point to be on track to reach 45 pts
by the end of the semester.
The total number of extra credit points earned on the Optional Assignments is shown next.
The PackBack score is shown next. If you didn't sign up for PackBack you'll see a 0 in this
column. Students that did sign up will see a number that ranges from 5 to 10 in this column.
That is the percentage that PackBack will count when determining your overall score.
The last two columns show your overall average. No quizzes are dropped in grade estimate #1.
This is the grade that needs to be 90.0% or above on the last day of classes to be exempt
from the Final Exam. The lowest quiz score is dropped in grade estimate #2.
The semester isn't over. It's important that you understand that these two overall grade
estimates can go up or down depending on what you do between now and the last day of classes.
There are two more quizzes between now and then. You should keep writing 1S1P reports until
you've reached 45 pts. You should turn in an experiment (or book or scientific paper) report
if you haven't already done so.
