ATMO Joint Faculty Member is awarded academia's highest title.

The Department of Hydrology & Water Resources announces that William James Shuttleworth has been bestowed the honor of Regents' Professor.

Dr. Shuttleworth joined the Department of Hydrology & Water Resources at the University of Arizona in 1993. His major research interests are in physical processes in hydrology with emphasis on evaporation and hydrometeorology, as applied to environment change at local, regional and global scales, including effects on global climate due to Amazonian deforestation and African desertification. He was the Hydrology & Water Resources SAHRA Director from 2004 to 2008. He serves on committees for the International Council of Scientific Unions, the International Hydrology Programme, the International Geosphere-Biosphere Project, the World Climate Research Programme and the International Pacific Research Center. A Fellow of the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Society and Royal Meteorological Society, he holds a Ph.D. in High Energy Nuclear Physics and a D.Sc. from Manchester University in the UK.
