The Hydrometeorology ProgramHydrometeorology is a branch of meteorology and hydrology that studies the transfer of water and energy between the land surface and the lower atmosphere. The hydrometeorology graduate program is a M.S.- and Ph.D.-granting program conferred jointly between the Departments of Atmospheric Sciences (ATMO) and Hydrology and Water Resources (HWR). The program provides students with a well-rounded background in the related fields of: a) atmospheric, hydrologic and systems sciences; b) tools and methods for numerical modeling, prediction, and data assimilation; and c) sensors, data sources, and data manipulation tools including remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS).
